Inspired by ecological systems and evolution, the sinuous and organic shapes of Rogan Gregory’s “Igneous” series  reference the geologic processes that shape our earth. Each piece is rendered in nodules of solid bronze, dense and weighty, cradling around a single taper candle. Their unassuming stature reveals objects with outsized mass and presence.

Fits standard ⅞” candle, shown with 12” tapers. 

The development of patina, verdigris, and luster are a natural feature of metals like bronze, brass, and stainless steel. Rather than imperfections to be removed, they should be looked at as part of the material’s inherent story, and part of what makes each piece unique and one-of-a-kind.

Care

If removing tarnish is desired, use a standard tarnish remover appropriate for brass. Avoid applying to clearly patinated areas. Remove excess with a clean cloth. Superfine 0000 bronze wool or steel wool can be used to regain luster. After removing tarnish, reapply 1-2 coats of paste wax on the affected areas, buffing between coats. Keep in mind that the wax provides limited protection; eventually the bronze will tarnish again and this should be seen as the expected evolution of the material.
