From cabinet maker and carpenter to artistic wood turner and sculptor, Paris-based Maxime Perrolle honors each piece of wood by carefully revealing its story. He works in medium and large formats, yet chooses to use traditional hand tools as he creates sculpture with commanding presence.
Working freehand, he listens and responds to the wood; an intimate conversation between art and artist. Referencing the primitive and the contemporary, his totem-like sculptures and objet retain the irregularities of the wood that give it vibrancy and life.
