Description

Seven generations of Kaikado master artisans have perfected the art of “chazutsu” storage canisters. Each handmade piece is available in polished brass or matte Urushi lacquer finish, with a tinplate lining and a snug-fit lid to preserve the freshness of loose tea, coffee beans, or ground coffee. The soft matte black Urushi lacquer was made expressly for the NICOLEHOLLIS Collection as a nod to heritage Japanese craftmaking. Urushi’s origins date back 9,000 years, when this organic tree-sap-derived polymer was used to decorate and strengthen sacred objects, armor, and fine decorative vessels. Applied by a single artisan from start to finish, it is a living representation of a craft being lost to contemporary life.

Care

Handle the caddy carefully. Open the lid gently, and when
closing the lid, align it carefully with the body to release air and ensure a
smooth fit. 

The development of patina is an inevitable and welcome part
of the life of the caddy, and adds to its character and value. 

In addition: 

Do not place the caddy in a refrigerator or freezer. 

Avoid strong impact or abrasions. 

Do not wash with water. If the caddy gets wet, wipe it off
immediately to prevent spotting.

Do not use alcohol, detergents, or chemical
cleansers. 

Store away from direct sunlight in a cool, dry place.
