Description

Cylindrical, with an angled cut edge at the base and rim, each votive in this collection is carved from a single block of pure alabaster. Artisans in Volterra, Italy, have perfected the art of hand-turning each individual piece, which is then lightly sealed with a natural wax. Each piece’s one-of-a-kind veining and coloration is amplified with the placement of a tea light, allowing warm light to shine through. Due to the variations of color and veining inherent to each piece of stone, as well as the maker’s touch, every piece will be unique.

Alabaster may have a visible layer of oil upon arrival; this will be absorbed within a few days, resulting in a soft satin finish.

Care

Alabaster is naturally porous and fragile. We recommend using a tealight in a cup, to avoid wax spills. If soot accumulates along the rim, clean with a dry cloth. For deep cleaning, use acetone or mineral spirits on a cotton swab. Never wash with water or use detergents, alcohol, or corrosive substances.
